Samal Island is a place where tourist spots and crystal waters are located. It is actually located in the north side of Mindanao but it is just a five minutes ride by pump boat if you want to visit it. The beaches there are all in white sand. Fresh sea foods and delicious grilled barbecue are waiting for you. Samal Island is a big Island. I am not so sure with its total land area but I have travelled it before in every barangay when I was still active in the sandawa-Apo Mountaineering group during my college days. Right now, I have seen a lot of developments in Samal area. There are land that is converted into a residential areas. Big real estate companies are developing some part of it, making it a first class subdivisions. The prices of lot per square meter increases due to more development project in the said area. Samal Island is now a progressive island because there are a lot of investors that are interested in developing the area. As a matter of fact, I have heard that a big financier from Japan is negotiating with the local government to construct a bridge that will connect Davao City and Samal Island. If this project will be realized, I am pretty sure that there will more investors to come and and more developments in the area.
