MY FAMOUS CASTLE DREAM TOUR.

I would like to visit different, ancient castles, or do a castle hopping. and the best place to do this is merry old England, of course! Stay close together because we just might run into a few.......er...... well, you know.... ghosts! What's a wonderful old castle without a ghost or two?

Colchester Castle

My first stop is Colchester Castle. This ancient structure was built by the early French invaders, the Normans, in about 1080. In order to build the castle, the Normans had to use materials taken from even earlier Roman constructions. We'll we need bathing suits and maybe waterwings, or even a raft, if we're going to visit Bodiam Castle in Sussex, England. That's because we have to swim across a moat. A moat is a water-filled ditch that surrounds a castle. In the olden days these deep waters made it difficult for attackers to reach the castle walls. In fact, the only approach to Bodiam Castle was a wooden bridge over the moat.

One of the most beautiful of the English castles is Warwick, which was built in the 14Th century. One of its towers, however, dates from shortly after the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. The castle, which is still the home of the Earls of Warwick, contains many valuable works of art. Of all the castle's treasures, I particularly like the collection of suits of armor.
